Both the theme of collecting and the process of transformation are the basis for the site-specific installation Repository - a collection of familiar curiosities, by this northern California artist. The installation reflects on the human need to venture out into the physical and the psychological world. The pleasure of discovery, selecting and gathering, even keeping, creates a further impetus to seek new visions and to grasp the world and one self. With very simple materials, such as paper and wax, oil and pigment, clay and salt, found and altered objects, Dillbohner creates contemplative environments, realms of sensation and thought.
